Definition: A free, 24/7 non-emergency NHS helpline and digital platform for urgent medical advice and direction.
When to use: When you need medical help fast but it is not a life-threatening emergency, such as an worsening illness or out-of-hours GP need.
When to avoid: Do not use for routine appointments, general health inquiries, or acute emergencies.

Triage Process: A trained advisor or online questionnaire guides you through a clinical algorithm to rule out critical dangers first.
