Are NHS hospitals air conditioned? No, not normally (well not most of the hospital).

There is national NHS guidance which states that routine use of air conditioning (AC) is not allowed; partly for safety reasons, and partly as it is not cost effective to install permanent air conditioning units.

Some hospital areas, such as theatres, will have AC, where it is essential to keep machinery cool.

There are also infection control issues to be considered around mobile air conditioning units.
