What to do if you are unable to attend a doctors appointment

If you do not turn up to an appointment with your GP or hospital consultant, this is called a ‘DNA’ (‘did not attend’). It may not be your fault.

But it is a waste of the doctors time, and costs the NHS money. So if you need to miss a GP appointment, please either ring the GP surgery, or better still, cancel it on your NHS app.

For hospital appointments, ring the consultants secretary or e-booking centre – and cancel it. Again, so the slot can be used for someone else.

Remember one day, you may need that cancelled appointment.

Thankyou.
