You will be asked frequently throughout your pregnancy if we can help you to stop smoking. Quitting means that you are more likely to have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.

If you’d like to try, or would like more information, just let your midwife know. These services can also help:

  • NHS-funded stop smoking services are available to you at any time in your pregnancy, and can help support you to reduce and stop smoking. Services include one-to-one appointments, group sessions and drop-ins
  • You can call the NHS Smokefree helpline on 0300 123 1044 from 9am to 8pm Monday to Friday, and 11am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday
  • If you require extra help, you can also speak to a GP, midwife or pharmacist for advice and support about finding ways to help reduce cravings.
